Here come the springers!
Well to say Kokanee fishing has been good would be an understatement! It has been very good fishing on Lake Chelan for some very nice Kokanee with even a couple landlocked kings coming in the past couple days. We have been launching the Wooldridge sled early in the morning and on some days eating breakfast with limits by 8 in the morning. I have been using the new Fetha Styx dr 803 Kokanee rods I highly recommend trying them out if you haven't yet you will love them! We have been getting limits of nice Kokanee ranging from 12 all the way up to a whopping 20 inch 2 and half pound lunkers. We have been using Pautzke Fire Corn tipped hoochie skirts mostly with Super Dipping Sauce Kokanee flavor for scent with great success. It has been a treat to be able to have such great fishing on these warm sunny days, it's almost 80 as I type this on a sunny afternoon. I would love to thank all that have gone out and fished with me and look forward to doing it again next spring!I will hit the lake a couple more times as we get ready to kick off salmon season! Any day, maybe even today, WDFW will announce an opening for spring chinook on the Icicle river and maybe even the Wenatchee river. We are expecting a very good season here on the Icicle river and the Wenatchee river. IF the Wenatchee river does open it will be the first time it has been open at all in over 20 years and the lower stretch the first time in over 50 years! So ya it's kind of a big deal! We are expecting a very good run of fish with almost 10,000 fish coming to the Wenatchee river system. We will be using Fetha Styx hsr 863 plug rods and sa 1064 bait rods for this fishery. We will be fishing this fishery through June and then it's back in the Wooldridge and Pautzke Fire Brined herring and coon shrimp and on to Sockeye and Kings in the Upper Columbia river and a huge sockeye run in Lake Wenatchee. Where we are expecting another huge run of fish for those fisheries! This summer will be insane I promise! We have huge runs of fish for every fishery we fish it's going to be a summer for the record books! I have very few open dates left for springers and a few for sockeye and kings but it's filling up fast, don't say you haven't been warned book now we don't get runs like this all the time!
