Sockeye Salmon
Sockeye salmon are prized for their taste, feistiness, and shear volume. These are excellent trips for the whole family, as the action is good and the fish are in smaller sizes, ranging from 4 to 8 lbs. This makes them perfect for less experienced and younger fishers. We fight for these marvelous fish in the Upper Columbia River from Wannapum dam to Chief Joseph Dam, as well as Lake Wenatchee on some years.
We start fishing sockeye in the Upper Columbia river in early July and will fish them through mid to late August. We start in Brewster for sockeye early July, and then will add Lake Wenatchee in early August if the season is allowed. WDFW makes the announcement for seasons and the limits, so they do vary year to year, but usually include up to a 4 fish limit. We fish this fishery in our fully loaded 26β Willies Nemesis boat, itβs a large wide boat that will fish up to 6 people comfortably. These trips are an absolute blast!
