Cold weather hot fishing

Happy New year! Even if it is a little late I hope everyone had a great time with friends and family.  January typically brings  some good steelhead fishing on the Upper Columbia, even though the temps are cold the fishing is pretty hot and this year is no exception. The Upper Columbia is open from Rock Island Dam up to Wells dam and then again from Brewster up to Chief Joseph dam. You can use bait in the Columbia but it is all single  barb-less hooks. We are fishing it out of the boat from Rocky Island up to Wells Dam mostly, and getting some very good reports from the Bridgeport area also. We are fishing mostly, "bobber doggin" jigs and bobbers and also some "free drifting" small egg clusters with corkies is producing in some spots. But all up and down the Columbia the fishing is continuing to stay good and should stay good until it warms up then the fish will head up the tributaries.  According to WDFW we may also get another season in the Wenatchee river for a spring steelhead season that may open as early as mid February but look for it in March as the water heats up it will be some fantastic fishing. We have spots available right now for some good steelhead fishing and also we have some winter specials don't miss out on! Not to early to book your spring Chinook trips on the Icicle River as the peak spots are starting to fill up already. Thanks for reading and see you on the river!
